Organiser Tania Ferris said she was amazed by the generosity of city residents, who were keen to support local businesses.
"It was great," Mrs Ferris said. "There was a steady stream of people through the gates all morning. Everyone adhered to current coronovirus guidelines."
Mrs Ferris said it was a smaller market than usual, with stall holders adhering to strict social distancing rules and food stall holders the only ones allowed to operate.
"Everyone was so lovely," she said.
"We had so many people telling us it was great we were back."
Mrs Ferris said Warrnambool and district residents had continued to support local producers by purchasing goods online.
She said the next market was scheduled for Sunday, June 7.
"Hopefully the entire market will be back then," she said. "The creatives and other producers are so important to the market as well."
