Brendan Parsons, 39, of Aitkins Road, Warrnambool, pleaded guilty in Warrnambool Magistrates Court to charges, including theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, failing to stop after an accident and careless driving.
He was jailed for the 68 days already served in custody on remand.
He was also fined $500 and his driver's licence was disqualified for 12 months.
The court heard Parsons stole a car from a Warrnambool business he had previously worked at for 20 years.
A GPS tracker fitted to the vehicle showed Parsons started the vehicle at 1.55am and drove from Warrnambool to Colac at speeds of up to 154km/h.
The court heard the vehicle collided with a parked car in Colac at 3.45am and Parsons fled the scene, failing to leave his details or report the incident. Colac police attended the scene and the vehicle was towed for forensic analysis.
At the time of the offending he was on bail for assault and theft-related charges.
Those charges related to an incident on December 19 last year when Parson attended a Timor Street address, gained access via an unlocked door, and stole $30 in coins.
Then on December 21, he attended a Warrnambool property about 11pm. The home owner arrived and found Parsons in the backyard. The pair were known to each other. A fight commenced and Parsons pinned the victim against a wall before striking him to the head with a brick.
Police attended the scene and Parsons was arrested. He told police he attended the property in order to steal items as the victim had "ripped him off and it was time to collect (the debt)".
Parsons also pleaded guilty to assaulting his mother on March 14 this year.
