Chloe Jackson, who is originally from England, moved to Australia just over three years ago after meeting Paul Thompson while they were both working on super-yachts in France.

The pair, who are parents to Gus, 3, and Toby, 16 months, had been planning to marry in Dorset on April 5.

Ms Jackson, 29, said the couple had been planning the big day for the past two years. "Initially we had about 50 people from Australia coming and we had a guest list of about 100," she said.

However, as the coronavirus outbreak worsened, a number of guests told the couple they were no longer comfortable travelling overseas.

When the cancellations continued to flood in, the couple made the tough decision to postpone their big day.

Ms Jackson, a photographer, remembers making the call while taking photos at another couple's wedding.

"It's very disappointing and it's sad I don't get to see my family," Ms Jackson said.

"I only get to see them once a year and it's nearly been 12 months since I've seen them."

Ms Jackson said she shed a lot of tears after making the decision, as she was set to be a bridesmaid for her best friend back home the week before her wedding. The friend in turn would be have been a bridesmaid on her big day.

Ms Jackson said she was also sad to learn the venue where they were to be married had gone into administration due to the coronavirus pandemic. "It's hard because we are kind of in limbo," she said.

"We just have to wait and see what happens."

Ms Jackson said the couple made the decision to move to Australia and live and work on the dairy farm owned by Mr Thompson's family.

She said she loved the laid-back way of life in Australia and living near the beach, but admitted she did get homesick at times.

Ms Jackson said she keeps in touch with family and friends back home in England via Facetime, but admitted it wasn't the same.

She said a number of her friends were facing uncertain futures with their careers as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.
