The artists are bringing to life a creature by renowned Victorian artist Alexander Knox for an exhibition called Me and UooUoo.

The creature is 1.5 metre tall and made from reinforced fibre glass.

"I'm really excited," Clark said.

"I really like creating public and street art.

"My design will be bright, bold and colourful. I've just done the black undercoat and I will have rich colours that will pop out heaps.

"This is new, but I've painted my own sculptures in Warrnambool before."

A UooUoo is a mythical creature which embodies the transformative spirit of the children's hospital's exception care, compassion and support.

Sidney Sprague of Ellerslie has also been invited to take on the anniversary celebrations.

"I saw an ad on social media and as a regional artist, I'm always trying to strive forward with my work," he said.

"I think this is a great project, especially for the Royal Children's Hospital, I have five children of my own."

Mr Sprague is excited to work with the UooUoo.

"My artwork is called Thought Forms; a colourful celebration of health and mind, encompassing feelings and moments," he said.

"A UooUoo is a beautiful form which holds together all our hopes, dreams and wishes.

"I'm a pretty diverse artist, I've done a bit of everything and I've done community art before. I once painted a Volvo for the new-look and re-opening of the Warrnambool Art Gallery. I've done different things over time but I'm a painter most of the time. I also do ceramics, fashion and retail-based arts projects.

"This will be a great project. I've got a great feeling, it's awesome."

David Higgins of Nirranda has also been invited to bring a Uoo Uoo to life.

"I gave an Australiana brief to the hospital so my design will be a wombat-come-quoll with kookaburra wings and its carrying a baby," he said.

"Doing jobs like this for a service is fantastic.

"I've done something similar for the Melbourne Zoo where I painted an elephant.

"It is a challenge though as it's quite a weird shape."

Me and UooUoo will be launched in September, pending COVID-19 regulation, and the UooUoos will be dispersed around Melbourne and Geelong.
