But The Standard's Tim Auld and Andrew Thomson are this week following the coronavirus-impacted Warrnambool racing carnival and will pen columns with their thoughts.
THOMO: Well Timmy what do you like in the two main races on Wednesday, the newmarket of the bush - the Wangoom Handicap - and the cup?
TIM: In the Wangoom, local trainer Lindsey Smith has a four-pronged attack. The best of his chances is Great Again. He likes the slow going, a handy first up record and it's a big advantage being on his home track.
THOMO: I'm on the Danny O'Brien/Damien Oliver-ridden Order Of Command. His only issue is the big weight (62kgs) and he's drawn a bit wide but he's the class runner of the field. The cup?
TIM: I'm on the Michael Dee-ridden Inverloch. The Trent Busuttin/Natalie Young stable is firing and he's a great each-way chance at about $7. Which way are you heading?
THOMO: I've gotta stick with Lindsey Smith with the $3 favourite Too Close The Sun.
TIM: Is there anything else you like?
THOMO: I've got one for you Timothy James. The Dave Burnett-trained greyhound Simon Told Helen is a good thing in the Warrnambool greyhound cup. He's one of the best chasers in the land, he'll be improved by last week's outing and expect him to win.
TIM: Just a recap of Tuesday's sensational jumps meeting. What an effort by Ciaron Maher to win a fifth Grand Annual, this time with super stayer Ablaze.
THOMO: Timothy that was as good a win as I've seen in the Annual. And it was fitting that Ciaron joined legendary Kiwi trainer John Wheeler with five Annuals.
TIM: We what about the ride of Shane Jackson to take out the Annual.
THOMO: Brilliant ride. Bit tough that Ciaron's brother Dec and Jackson got fined $300 each for shaking hands after the Annual win.
