Warrnambool SES volunteers responded to one call out with a tree down on Wangoom Road at 4pm.
SES unit controller Giorgio Palmeri said the tree was blocking the west bound lane with two crews called to clear the incident
Bureau of Meteorology Senior Meteorologist Dean Stewart said the weather would be quite blustery right across the state.
"It's pretty unusual to have a run of days in the mid teens this early in April," he said.
"So it doesn't happen all that often but we can get cold outbreaks at anytime of the year.
"Usually it might just give one cold day but it does look like the weekend and even in to early next week... will still be pretty cool across the state."
The bureau warned that damaging winds averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts of around 90 km/h were expected to develop near exposed coastal areas of western and central Victoria during late Saturday afternoon.
The damaging winds were expected to further extend to elevated areas of western and central Victoria during Sunday morning.
