The driver, a 39-year-old man who was headed towards Terang, was doing 141km/h in a 100km/h zone near the Premier Speedway on Sunday morning.
The driver will lose his licence for six months and will cop a $625 fine.
Senior Constable Brett Thornton, of Koroit police, said the driver offered no excuse for his actions.
He said the area where the man was caught speeding was a dangerous section of the highway which had been the scene of a numbe of major collisions over the years.
The black Ford Ranger Wildtrak involved in the midnight ram attack on Gateway Plaza, where three doors were smashed when the car was driven inside the shopping centre, was later located near the scene.
