Police were called to reports of a vehicle driving erratically on Saturday, and when police went to intercept the vehicle the driver is alleged to have rammed two police vehicles about 1.20pm.

The south-west man, aged in his 20s, had also hit a parked car on Grange Road, off Mortlake Road when police tried to pull him over.

Detective Senior Constable Derek Verity, of the Warrnambool criminal investigation unit, said police had followed the driver into a dead-end street and when they tried to intercept he rammed two police vehicles and a third had to put the police car in the way to stop him getting out.

Acting Sergeant Rhiannon Everall said the driver was wanted in relation to burglary and theft offences.

Detective Senior Constable Verity said the man was wanted in relation to an alleged crime spree over the past few days that stretched from Warrnambool to Lake Bolac and Hamilton.

He was remanded in custody to appear in court on Monday.
