Warrnambool police Sergeant Danny Wright said there was also a sign on the front door to try and assist anyone who wants police help.
He requested that anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms do not enter the police station.
"If you need to come in to the Warrnambool police station, please stand behind the line until called forward," he said.
"If you wish to report a non-urgent crime, remember you can call the police assistance Line on 131 444 rather than coming in to the station.
"For urgent matters, please call triple 0. The Warrnambool police station can be contacted on 5560 1333 and then follow the prompts," he said.
