As the coronavirus pandemic continues Warrnambool mother and teacher Jess Taylor is leading the way with kindness. She has set up a food sharing Facebook group to help people in need.
Ms Taylor began Grocery Swap Warrnambool and Surrounding Areas on the social media around a week ago and immediately saw people spreading positivity.
"I was in the in the supermarket and I saw this older lady who was looking really distressed and teary as she couldn't find her essentials," she said.
"I gave her a hug and another shopper yelled at me and said I could be spreading germs.
"There is the same group in Melbourne started by Isabelle Ruby Leha which I was added too and I contacted Isabel to see if we could bring it down here because it's about spreading a pandemic of kindness and positivity."
Through the Facebook group, people have posted the extra items they have in their pantries which they can drop off to people's homes and Ms Taylor has described the difference between panic buying and stockpiling to encourage people the unjudge each other.
"People are posting what they've got, drop off and pick up locations," she said.
"They're putting up photos of stock so people know where they can get things from.
"I started the group with my friends and it branched out from there.
"It all began last Tuesday at lunchtime and now there's over 1,100 members.
"I think it's creating a lot of awareness for people."
