Scales Of Justice won the group two Australian Stakes at Moonee Valley in late January before failing in the Orr Stakes in February.
Smith told The Standard talented three-year-olds Bivouac, Exceedance and Loving Gaby held the key to the 1200-metre race.
"I'm happy how Scales Of Justice has gone in this preparation," he said.
"My biggest concern is the three-year-olds they have fresh legs and will be hard to beat in a tough race."
Meanwhile, three jumps races that were to be run at Hamilton on March 29 have been transferred to the Warrnambool meeting on March 27.
Two Warrnambool flat races will be run at Hamilton.
Hamilton will now comprise of six races, with Warrnambool featuring a nine-race card.
The steeplechase race at Warrnambool will be conducted on the course proper, rather than through the paddocks.
Racing Victoria in consultation with club officials at Hamilton made the decision, owing to a section of the track being deemed unsuitable for racing.
The flat races at the meeting will not be affected.
