Guizot, ridden by talented jockey Linda Meech and trained by Aaron Purcell, was denied a chance of getting a berth in the All-Star Mile after he failed to win the Blamey Stakes at his previous run.

The Blamey was a wildcard race for the All-Star Mile with the winner gaining an automatic start in the richest 1600-metre race in the world.

The seven-year-old took his record to four victories at Caulfield from 10 starts when he hung on to beat Scarlet Dream by short head with Hellova Street back in third spot in the listed race over 1600 metres.

An excited Purcell told The Standard Guizot deserved the win after unlucky runs in this campaign.

"It was a shame we never got a run in the All-Star Mile but this win is some compensation for missing out," the group one-winning trainer said.

"Guizot has just been such a great horse for his owners. He's been unlucky in a few of his runs in this preparation.

"Caulfield really seems to suit his style of racing. The races are run at a moderate tempo and then they gain speed and he can get a cart into the race.

"He can finish the last furlong off well if it all pans out. I'm not sure what we'll do with him now.

"His rating will got up but we'll just try and find a similar type of race for his next start."

Meanwhile, Black Heart Bart put in an honest performance running eighth in the All-Star Mile for Warrnambool trainer Lindsey Smith.

The veteran galloper took his stake earnings to more than $4.8 million after Saturday's prizemoney of $120,000 was added to his account.
