Assistant principal Sue Fraser said the 169 students had settled into the new $15-million Wollaston Road campus this term.
But Ms Fraser said that couldn't have been achieved without about $300,000 in donations from hundreds of community donors that helped the school buy much-needed new equipment.
"We were blown away by the fact the small groups within our community were the ones that did most of the fundraising for us," Ms Fraser said. "They made it a project for one or two years, that was amazing."
The donations contributed to a new $200,000 playground with a rubber surface to soften falls, 20 interactive TVs, sound equipment, and kitchen appliances to teach trade skills, among other items.
"When you look at the old school and how inadequate and dated it was, you see this school and it is just fabulous," Ms Fraser said.
"The buildings are top-notch and state-of-the-art. Various people have said the kids deserve the best. It really is a testament to that."
Ms Fraser said the school still had a number of projects it would seek funding for in the future, after it initially set a $1-million fundraising target.
"Short-term we are looking at new solar panels and water tanks, and we are looking at building an oval and to buy two new buses," she said.
"The intention of the day is to thank the community ... we wanted to show where the funds have gone and maybe introduce to them the future projects we also need community involvement in."
The school is offering visitors a tour at the new facilities on Saturday between 10am and midday.
