FUNAKOSHI Karate trio Jill Cole, Kathryn Milroy and Garrin Williamson won't rest on their laurels as they chase state and national success, according to their coach Peter Conroy.

The south-west dojos' instructor said the trio had jumped back into their training following podium finishes at the Australian Karate Federation Melbourne Open Championships last weekend.
"Solid training and putting in the hours on the floor and everything else happens like excellence at tournaments," he said.
"The dojo is getting ready for black belt gradings and Kathryn is one of those. We are back into the dojo with five sessions a week, high intensity and fully focused."

Warrnambool's Williamson scored a first place in the 16-year-old plus third KYU black belt kata after returning from a 12-month hiatus to focus on his study.
Camperdown's Milroy scored a second place on her debut on the AKF stage, taking out a silver in the female black belt developmental kata.
Terang's Cole continued to shine on the AKF stage, claiming a second place finish in the veteran female black belt elite division kata.
The trio are aiming for strong performances at the State Championships in March and Nationals to be held in Perth in June.
Conroy was pleased to see Williams and Milroy make impressive starts to their top-level competition careers.
