Bone is bound for Bellarine Peninsula club Ocean Grove, leaving a hole in the Hampden league outfit's engine room.
Magpies co-coach Neville Swayn said a number of players were in consideration for more midfield minutes following the 22-year-old's departure.
Bone played 49 senior games at Leura Oval.
"We'll look at a couple of guys who might fill the void," Swayn said.
We have an opportunity to have a look at options in our three practice matches.
- Neville Swayn
"We have an opportunity to have a look at options in our three practice matches.
"Someone else might bob up in those. You have a side in your head but you try things particularly in the first couple of practice games.
"We'll have a lot of guys out playing cricket finals in the first practice game so there will be opportunities available."

Swayn, who is still working to add recruits to his list, said Camperdown was satisfied with its pre-season progress and was encouraged by a strong back-six.
He expected co-mentor Jack Williams' on-field return to strengthen the club's bid to improve on its seventh-place finish.
"Jack is over his groin issues which basically hampered him for the last three quarters of last year," he said.
"He'll be a real recruit for us. The back six is looking really settled again.
"Our midfield won't be big-bodied, but they're definitely fitter and we'll go with what we have. We're tracking along pretty well at this point."
Swayn revealed his side had gelled well at the club's pre-season camp in Timboon.
"We went down to this huge place - I think it might have been an old prison," he said.
"Lots of schools go there. We used it to go down to the beach and get some training in. It was good." Camperdown will face Terang Mortlake away from home in round one.
