JOSH Buckingham had won a South Australian and New South Wales Formula 500 title but he had never won his home state's crown.

That all changed on Saturday night when the Geelong ace edged out defending champion Jack Bell and Will Carroll to take out the Victorian title at Laang Speedway.
The 23-year-old, who has also won a national title, said it was satisfying to be able to finally stick the V1 on his car.
"It's always good to get state titles and national titles as they are the biggest races in our class," he said.
"We've won a South Australian title and one in New South Wales but it feels good to get one in my home state title and I'll certainly aim to get the Victoria one onto the car and wear it as well."

Buckingham started from pole with Tim Rankin for company on his outside for the 25-lap feature.
Rankin would end up finishing fifth with fellow south-west racer Dylan Willsher just ahead of him.
The opening lap saw Leigh Van Ginneken take a tumble and bring on red.
Buckingham held firm from the restart to storm away before holding off a late charge from Bell.
The tiler, who recently started his own business, is eyeing the Ken Willsher Classic as his next race.
