Carlin, whose children Abbey, Jack and Ben play for the club, will lead the top-grade side for the first time this season.

She replaces Kym Goonan who was going to coach A grade again but decided to step down due to family commitments.

Goonan will coach the A reserve side and will continue to play as well.

Carlin has coached juniors at the club for the past four years and is looking forward to her new challenge.

"What I hope to bring into the senior girls is enjoyment of netball," she said.

"When I was a junior and when I played netball, enjoyment was a big factor in my netball and that's what I want to transfer to the senior girls."

Carlin played top-grade netball with Kolora, before the merger, in 1994/95.

She is big on playing as a team.

"Netball is a team game and it can give you so much on and off the court," she said.

"If you are prepared to work hard in both those areas, with training and looking after your teammates, so much more can happen."

Carlin coached the club's 17 and under team in 2016/17 and the 13 and under netball side in 2018/19.

The 13 and under team won the premiership in 2018.

Carlin had planned to put the clipboard down for season 2020 but she couldn't pass up the opportunity to coach at senior level.

"Last year, I said to them at the end 'That's it, I'll have a rest from coaching and concentrate on the kids'," she said.

She'll still be able to watch her kids who play junior football and netball.

"I love the game of netball, I can't play anymore, but it gave me so much so I'm happy to give something back," she said.

The new coach said there were some new faces at pre-season training but she had no recruits to announce yet.

The Power will be looking to build on a ninth-place finish in 2019.

Gill Hampson will lead the club's B grade side this year.
