Warrnambool will find out who its new councillor will be during a vote countback on March 11 following the sudden resignation of Peter Hulin after 11 years.

The countback will be held in the Warrnambool City Council chambers at noon, something the Victorian Electoral Commission says will cost the council between $2000 to $3000.
The vacancy will be filled by a countback of the vacating councillor's votes from the 2016 council elections rather than getting voters to vote in a byelection.
A number of candidates are in the running including Brian Kelson, who was just 12 votes behind elected councillor Robert Anderson with 1046 first preference votes.
Mr Hulin had directed his preferences first to Christine Thompson, who scored just 195 votes during the election. If voters followed Mr Hulin's preferences, there was a chance she could get in.
Peter Sycopoulis, Jennifer Lowe, Dave McPhail, John Harris and Richard Ziegeler could all be in the running.
There are 11 other candidates that also ran in the election in 2016.
Mr Hulin's votes will be distributed to the remaining eligible unsuccessful candidates from the 2016 election, according to voters' preferences.
Returning officer Katrina Collins said the candidate who gained more than 50 per cent of the countback votes would be elected.
Scrutineers and interested parties may attend and observe the countback.
