The Mermaids' 2020 Big V draw has been released and includes 18 games - nine at home and nine away.
They start their season on the road against Camberwell Dragons on Sunday, March 15 and then play five of their next six at the Arc.
The Seahawks start their 22-game season away against Bulleen Boomers on Saturday, March 14 and play five double-headers throughout the regular season.
Primmer, who has taken over the Mermaids' top job from Louise Brown, said banking early wins would give his team confidence once it hit the road for a stretch of games.
The Mermaids will play five of six games on the road from late May to mid-July.
"That will be a really tough period so we need to take care of our home court early on in the season," Primmer said. "If we do, I think we'll be in good shape for the away games."
Primmer said he was excited about how the Mermaids' roster was shaping up.
"We would have 20 training with us at the moment, a good bunch of seniors and promising juniors coming through the ranks," he said.
