TWO runs back from a spell have the Mitch Freedman-trained mare Pelonomena ready to perform at her best in the $70,000 Colac Cup on Sunday.

Freedman said Pelonomena needed the runs at Flemington and Caulfield to bring the lightly-raced mare to her top.
"Pelonomena's last two runs were not as bad as they looked on paper," he said.
"We gave her a long spell following her Warrnambool Cup run. She just needed time to furnish out. I don't think she's far away from her peak fitness.
"I'm expecting her to run well in the Colac Cup and at her next start."

Freedman, who started his training career at Crossley and now trains at Ballarat, has engaged top jockey Dean Yendall to ride Pelonomena in the 2000-metre race.
"We'll instruct Dean to roll forward from the wide barrier," he said. "Traditionally, Colac suits frontrunners or on-paced runners. We hope to be in a forward position."
Top-weight Street Sheik is trying to add another country cup victory to his tally for leading trainer Patrick Payne.
Street Sheik won the Terang Cup three runs ago before winning the Great Western Cup.
The five-year-old ran fifth at Caulfield last week. Warrnambool-trained Royal Performance, who is to be ridden by Linda Meech, will have admirers despite being up in class.
The Colac Cup is race seven on the eight-event program and is scheduled to start at 4.50m.
