Bowman saddles up talented mare Golden Halo in the $125,000 Royal Ascot Handicap at Flemington on Saturday but the group one-winning trainer is weighing up his options for the four-year-old galloper.
"I understand we're in the middle of the summer but I would prefer if there was a bit of give in the tracks," Bowman said.
"I'll wait to see what the track rating is at Flemington before we say we're running.
"Golden Halo just needs a bit of give in the track to show her best in her races. She handles good tracks but finds it tougher on hard ground."

Bowman's stable star Begood Toya Mother will miss the All-Star Mile and the Futurity Stakes after pulling up sore following an unplaced run on a hard track in the Orr Stakes at Caulfield last Saturday.
Ciaron Maher, who trains in partnership with David Eustace, accepted with Loving Gaby in the $750,000 Black Caviar Lightning Stakes at Flemington.
Loving Gaby, the winner of three of her eight starts, tackles the speedy Nature Strip in the 1000-metre race down the famous straight.
The powerful training duo also has Amish Boy, Bonvicini, Fascino and Toscanini running on the nine-race program.
