Leigh Estlick was first introduced to speedway racing by his father and now he's passing his passion on to his two daughters.

"I've been going to the speedway for 40 years, from day dot," he said.

"I had no choice at the start. Dad used to drive and I took it up as a kid around 10 years old."

The family travels from its Bacchus Marsh home for a summer holiday in Warrnambool, coinciding with the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic.

Mr Estlick has successfully converted his wife Chantelle into loving the sport.

"I only got into speedway since marrying Leigh," she said.

"Every year we come camping for the classic, it's our one family holiday and we make the most of it."

Mr Estlick has fond memories of his childhood holidays in Warrnambool and his days following the circuit.

"We used to stay at surfside two when Bob Forbes raced sprintcars," he said.

"It would make my day helping him in the car park of the caravan park washing the wheels. It really sparked my interest in it.

"I used to do the Avalon and Mount Gambier speedways too but now the classic is the focus. I like the vibe, it always comes alive and you can see the trucks in the streets and all the people enjoying themselves and the sport."

Mr Estlick enjoys watching his friends, notably Paul Solomon, race.

Mr Estlick's young daughters Mackenzie, 11, and Myah, 8, are firmly on the family bandwagon and both share a love of the high speeds, colour and mud that comes along with the sport.

However, the young girls are divided about whether they enjoy seeing the crashes.

Mr Estlick is tipping Kerry Madsen to take out the classic while Mrs Estlick is backing James McFadden, Mackenzie thinks Rusty Hickman will take the title while Myah believes Lisa Walker will win.
