A Canadian couple on holiday with their six-month-old baby are lucky to be alive after a washing machine part smashed into their front windscreen on the Princes Highway.

Koroit police Senior Constable Brett Thornton said the family was travelling east on the Princes Highway at Rosebrook about 5.15pm on Sunday.
He said a lid of a washing machine came off the back of another vehicle travelling west, smashing the front windscreen of the grey Mitsubishi Outlander they were driving.
"The couple and their baby luckily did not sustain any injuries however they were all pretty shaken up," Senior Constable Brett Thornton said.
"Their vehicle was undriveable and had to be towed away."
Senior Constable Thornton said the incident occurred between Sharkeys Road and Model Lane.
"Approximately where the 'Jans Fine Glass' road sign is," he said.
"Police would like to appeal to the driver to come forward and contact police as well as anyone who may have witnessed the incident."
