STREET Sheik scored a comprehensive victory over Under Oath and Royal Performance for trainer Patrick Payne in the $45,000 Camperdown Cup run at Terang on Saturday.

Top jockey Brad Rawiller had the winning ride on Street Sheik but Payne revealed to The Standard after the race Rawiller's good fortune came at the expense of stable hoop Billy Egan.
"Billy was to have ridden Street Sheik but he was in Tasmania," he said.
"Billy went over for a mates wedding so Brad picked up the ride. It was a good ride by Brad because Street Sheik can be a quirky type of horse to ride.
"He's got to be held up for one go. He's only got a short sprint but Brad timed his run to perfection. Street Sheik deserved the win. He's been very consistent.
"I think he's averaged $16,000 in prizemoney for each run during his career which is a great result for his connections."

Payne, who was a champion flat and jumps jockey before starting his training career, said he had won on Street Sheik's mum Desert Heiress when he was a jumps jockey.
"My sister Theresa trained Desert Heiress," he said. "I won a maiden hurdle on her many years ago. She was a handy mare. I may run Street Sheik in the Great Western Cup on January 26.
"It's a VOBIS Gold race which carries bonus prizemoney and that makes the race very attractive for us to run in at this stage."
From his 23 starts Street Sheik has won five races and been in the minor place getters stall on 15 occasions.
The meeting was transferred from Camperdown to Terang late on Friday evening after wet patches were found near the winning post and 1000-metre mark at Camperdown, which made the track unsuitable for racing.
