Melbourne artist Callum Morton is bringing his new art installation, 'Helter Shelter' to the city's Alfred Deakin Place for its first showing in Victoria.
The artwork features a hollowed-out head of the US President which emerges from the pavement. The head is so large, there's room for bench seating all decorated in flames.
Helter Shelter was first commissioned in 2018 Sydney Contemporary for the Barangaroo Precinct in Sydney Harbour. Most recently, it has been on display at HOTA (Home of the Arts) Gold Coast throughout this month.
It will remain in Ballarat until April 5.
Gallery Director Louise Tegart said that Helter Shelter would prove a talking point for both fans and critics of the President.
"Callum Morton has picked up on the disquiet which Trump's presidency has caused around the world to create a piece which is topical, controversial and humorous," Ms Tegart said.
"This impressive public art work will stop people in their tracks and poses a deeply uncomfortable question about who we ought to accept shelter from."
Helter Shelter will be unveiled on Wednesday afternoon.
