Ballarat-based Hein Reimert and former Melbourne resident Emily Jansz stormed home to claim the winners' medals in impressive times on Sunday.

Reimert, 23, stopped the clock in a time of 19 minutes and 13 seconds to edge out his recently returned training partner Jesse Fullerton (19 minutes and 30 seconds).

Zac Norton rounded out the top three after finishing in a time of 20 minutes and 18 seconds.

Jansz, 35, who recently moved back to Warrnambool, finished in a time of 24 minutes and 35 seconds, beating Alicia Boyd (25 minutes and seven seconds) and Naticia Varley (25 minutes and 43 seconds) to the finish line at Lake Pertobe.

Reimert, who claimed his second victory in the event and the first since 2010, was happy to return for the run.

"I was using it for general fitness and I love coming back down home and having a run with everyone as it's always good vibes and a good atmosphere," the Federation University IT graduate told The Standard.

"I love the starting hill because it's so tough but it puts you into shape real quick.

"Starting with it it gives you a big confidence boost if you make it up easily and the downhill to finish with is just unreal."

Jansz said her focus before the race was to just embrace her run.

"I tried not to worry about the time it was more about having a good run and enjoying it," the mother-of-three said.

"The hills always sort everyone out quickly but it is a good course."

The teacher said she was aiming to continue her running in the Warrnambool Athletics Club's summer series.

In the six-kilometre walk Fraser Saunder (30 minutes and 11 seconds) and Jemma Peart (31 minutes and 27 seconds) stormed away to claim event wins.

Saunder edged out Scott Peart (36 minutes and 54 seconds) and Johnny Carlin (44 minutes and 44 seconds).

Peart crossed the line ahead of Helen (45 minutes and 44 seconds) and Kristen Bubb (46 minutes and 25 seconds).

In the three-kilometre Lap of the Lake it was Geordie Rollings-Wurak (16 minutes and 55 seconds) and Sarah Byrne (18 minutes and 39 seconds) who took out the win.

Rollings-Wurak finished ahead of Charlie Beggs (16 minutes and 55 seconds) and David Boyd (17 minutes and 37 seconds).

Byrne crossed the line before Lucy Howland (20 minutes and nine seconds) and Alessandro Clingin (20 minutes and 11 seconds.
