THE Warrnambool and District Cricket Association's trio of Vic Country representatives are one win away from redemption at the Australian Country Cricket Championships in Toowoomba.
Allansford's Ben Boyd, who is also skipper of Vic Country, Russells Creek wicket-keeper Cam Williams and Brierly-Christ Church's Matt Love have played a part in the side's impressive week.
Last year the side finished runners-up after losing to Western Australia, the team they will play in Saturday's decider.
Vic Country qualified for the grand final after finishing top of the table with a 24-run final round victory over New South Wales.
Williams took two catches in the final match and contributed four not out batting at number seven.
Boyd took 1-44 from his five overs on Friday. Although Love did not bat he contributed in the field with one catch to help Vic Country in limiting New South Wales to 266.
Western Australia defeated the previously second-placed Queensland to progress to the grand final.
The deciding fixture will be played in one-day format.
Waves just miss
Western Waves under 14 girls team fell just short of reaching the Youth Premier League final.
The Waves won their twenty20 match on Thursday with Merrivale's Lila Wilkinson (37) and Mortlake's Annabelle Glossop (37) contributing well with the bat against Highlanders.
They finished second in the Renegades League conference.
