Nestles is planning to donate funds generated from its Twenty20 double-header on Saturday.

Factory will donate $10 from each player selected, $10 for each wicket taken, $1 per run scored and the proceeds of its Surf 'T' Surf marshalling duties to a club in need.

The club is also hosting a raffle at its next club function, with proceeds to be donated, and recruit Brendan Chatfield will offer up an unused bat.

It will make the final donation via Cricket Victoria, who is set to locate an appropriate beneficiary.

Nestles coach Alex Strauch, who created the concept through pub chat with clubmates, said the Reid Oval-based club was keen to offer a helping hand.

"It's just the good old-fashioned Aussie thing of helping out," Strauch said.

"We were keen to help a cricket club or an association who has had some hard times and hopefully it spurs us on to make a few more runs."

Strauch said each player suiting up would also make a personal donation.

He told The Standard people wishing to contribute gear to the initiative were welcome to call 0424 169 439 to make arrangements.

Nestles president Todd Cain said the club was proud to foster Strauch's idea.

"I think Alex has come up with a fantastic initiative that myself and the committee were all too happy to support and get behind," he said.

It comes after the Grassmere Cricket Association raised just under $1000 for the drought and fire appeal at its Twenty20 grand final afternoon.
