The crash occurred around 4.50pm on Sunday at Wattle Hill, about 15 kilometres east of Princetown.

Senior Constable Liam Cook, of Port Campbell police, said an eastbound driver of a Honda Civic, a Victorian man in his 30s, failed to navigate a right-sweeping bend and crossed to the wrong side of the road.

He said the car then collided with an oncoming Toyota wagon, with three Chinese nationals travelling inside.

Paramedics took the three Chinese nationals to Geelong hospital, and six from the Honda Civic to Colac hospital.

"There was one child, one female and one elderly male who have minor injuries. The rest are being checked out as a precaution, and weren't experiencing injuries," Senior Constable Cook said.

"They are very lucky, it certainly could have been a lot worse. The Toyota was coming down as hill, and stated to police he was driving with caution. If he was driving quicker it could have been a different outcome."

He said police were yet to charge anyone and were making further inquiries. He urged caution over the holiday period.

"With the ocean road we have a signification increase in tourism, which reflects a significant increase of motorists on the road. We want to make sure everyone goes home safe," Senior Constable Cook said.
