Principal Robert Dowell said there was only a small amount of work to go before the Woolaston Road site would be finished but fundraising for the school was continuing.
Mr Dowell said it would be a bittersweet moment to lock the door at the school's current Hyland Street site.
"It's going to be hard for me, I have been here for 27 years," he said.
"This school has been such a big part of my life. Even though it is very exciting to be moving."
"Including grants we have raised around $300,000, this is grants we have applied for, philanthropic trusts, organisation such as Rotary, Lions Club and Kiwanis, plus many, many members of the public.
"Our ultimate target is $1 million, over time, this is what we are shooting for in the longer term.
"The response has been amazing."
Initially the fundraising was aimed at purchasing play equipment, which has now been purchased and will be installed prior to students starting at the new campus in 2020.
"Now we are looking to develop an oval, which will be quite costly, we still need to be raising money for specialised therapy equipment including lifting equipment, and technologies and interactive televisions," Mr Dowell said.
"We are also needing money for a barista machine as we are running a little cafe as work training for older students."

Mr Dowell said WSDS was planning a training kitchen to run alongside the cafe and school canteen to help students develop work place skills.
"The play equipment was one thing we wanted in place when the school started, the community has been right behind us since day one and we can now say we have been able to get this part done with your help," he said.
"The building as all finished, now it is just the outside and the road entrance.
"Beyond that is what we are calling stage two, developing the rest of the site, having farm animals or an orchard or a camping site. We back onto the river, so it would be nice to have a pontoon, it's a long-term thing but we are already thinking about it."
Donations to WSDS can be made at Warrnambool's Bendigo Bank, or see the school's website for more detail.
