A spokesman for Ambulance Victoria said paramedics were called to the Warrnambool Racing Club on Grafton Road at 6.09am after a female aged in her 20s fell from a horse.
He said the woman suffered a leg injury and was transported to Warrnambool Base Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
It is understood the woman remains in hospital but Warrnambool Base Hospital staff declined to comment on her current condition.
Warrnambool Racing Club chief executive Tom O'Connor said the club was aware of the incident.
"We will be following it up first thing on Monday," he said.
