ASX-listed Cleanaway Waste Management is buying family owned company Statewide Recycling, with the sale planned for completion in mid-December.

A Cleanaway spokesman said the company was "excited to be further adding to their footprint in regional Victoria".

The spokesman said there would be no reductions in staff following the takeover.

Statewide Recycling general manager Carl Moloney, who will continue to manage operations, told customers it would be "business as usual".

"I am confident that all of our staff will transition across, meaning your waste and recycling requirements will continue to be serviced by the same friendly local staff, in the same trucks," Mr Moloney said.

The business has services throughout western Victoria in Warrnambool, Panmure, Hamilton, Stawell as well as Melbourne, and offers waste or recycling to residents, farms, councils and businesses.

Cleanaway Waste Management also acquired collapsed recycling company SKM in October, after SKM breached stockpiling regulations.

"Cleanaway has been expanding its operations right across Australia, acquiring SKM, and picking up smaller operations like Statewide Recycling to develop a national network of businesses and assets," Cleanaway's spokesman said.

The SKM crisis has forced Moyne Shire Council to divert recycling to land fill since July. The council plans to resolve the situation with a fourth bin for glass in early 2020.
