Inspired by their experiences as musicians playing throughout the city, they've formed duo Mike & Sam and are planning to release a string of songs, the first being an ode to their hometown.
"I did a gig and everyone was singing and I thought 'wouldn't it be great if Warrnambool had its own song?'," Grayson said.
"I had a dream about the song and everyone was singing along.
"For weeks I couldn't get the chorus out of my head.
"I sat down and wrote the lyrics and waited to see what would happen."
After writing the words Grayson, who was part of The Androids, a band known for its hit Do It With Madonna, knew We're Here To Party needed another voice. He enlisted the help of Ferguson and the two began collaborating.
"We caught up at Michael's home studio and began playing," Grayson said.
"Things started moving quickly and everything happened smoothly.
"In that night - it was a long night - we'd finished the song."
With a pop base and inflections of country and rock, We're Here To Party is a upbeat song to kick off a night in town.
The song was recorded and produced in Grayson's garage studio and shows off the duo's guitar skills and powerful vocals.
The pair already have more tracks in the pipeline and hope to begin performing around Warrnambool with their new anthem in the new year.
"We've both cut our teeth playing around the traps," Ferguson said.
"It's a really good music scene.
"People forget how lucky we are that we can go to different venues and get completely different vibes.
"We're so excited to release this song for Warrnambool."
We're Here To Party will be released before Christmas.
