Dennington's Chloe Savage enjoyed the carols with a family picnic.

"It's an awesome family night with a great atmosphere," she said.

"The performances are all super cute, and the kids have a ball."

Dennington Community Association president John Harris said he was happy about 1000 people attended the community event, even though numbers were down a little on previous years.

"We usually get around 1000-1200 people, but this is excellent given the weather," he said. "Thanks to the volunteers who did a wonderful job setting up, and those who helped clean up."

Young singer Violet Russell, 5, dressed up in a reindeer costume for the night.

"I love seeing so many people, my favourite carol is 'Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer," she said.

"I think Santa will come to me this year, but I'm not sure if I've been good, it's a bit tricky."
