The Bureau of Meteorology said December 2 was the coldest December day in the south-west cities since 2008 as it reached only 13.5 degrees in Warrnambool by 2pm.
Today, there's a high (70%) chance of showers with winds from the west 35 to 45 km/h and a marine gale warning is in place for the west coast.
At 6.30am in Warrnambool it was 11.5 degrees, felt like 6.8 and we've had 1.6mm of rain since 9am yesterday.
Warrnambool is expecting a top of 16 degrees, Hamilton 17, Colac 16, Ararat 19, Casterton 18, Mortlake 16, Heywood 16, Portland 16, Port Fairy 15, Terang 16 and Camperdown 16.
A large high pressure system south of WA will move over waters south of the Bight tomorrow then will weaken on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, cold fronts over the Southern Ocean will clip Bass Strait as they head towards the Tasman Sea.
Another high will form south of Western Australia on Thursday and move south of the Bight on Friday.
For the days ahead, things are fining up - Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will be cloudy with tops about 16, Saturday a partly cloudy 17, Sunday 23, Monday 22 and Tuesday 18.
