James Barling was thrilled to be his team's skipper for the first time in the Western District Bowls Division's top-grade weekend pennant.
His leadership proved important as the Jets claimed an eight-shot victory (72-64) against Port Fairy Red.
Barling said it was a goal he had been working towards.
"I'm very, very excited, it's something I've been striving towards for a little while," he said on Saturday.
"To be given the opportunity today - I'm very grateful."

The 29-year-old had put his hand up to take on the leadership role.
"It's been in talks for a little bit," he said.
"Obviously I flagged my intention for wanting to skip and with bit of form lately, I've been given the opportunity."
Barling started playing bowls and with Dennington four years ago.
He started in division three but quickly made his way into the division one side where he has remained.
Barling decided to take up bowls after injuring his back in 2012.
He was a keen cricketer and played with East Warrnambool and Mailors Flat prior to that.
The new skipper said he enjoyed the social and competitive side of bowls.
"It's a very strategic game, it always keeps you thinking and on your toes," he said.
"It's fairly competitive and a lot easier on the body than cricket."
The Jets are seventh on the ladder with two victories.
In other results, Warrnambool Gold continued its five-match winning streak with a four-shot (64-60) win over City Memorial Red at home.
City Memorial Gold beat Warrnambool Blue 79-62 at its home green.
Timboon Gold accounted for Koroit Blue, winning by 22 shots (87-65).
Mortlake Blue won a close one against Terang Green (71-67).
