The Wedding Stylist opened its doors in October and owner Sarah McLaren has been busy.

"I'm up to 16 bookings already and I've only been open for two months," she said.

"The shop had been empty for over 10 years and I approached Moyne Shire Council about rent and they said yes.

"I saw a gap in the market here and it took me 12 months to get ready and collect everything.

"I've been doing wedding consultancy for the past five years and a friend recommended I start my own shop. Now I style weddings, parties and events."

Ms McLaren has been a Koroit resident for 15 years and has noticed more people coming to town.

"When properties are listed, they seem to be sold in under a month," she said.

"There's lots of young families coming to town and I've definitely noticed a boom in the last 18 months.

"It's a relaxed atmosphere here, there's never any trouble and all the stores are locally owned so we get along very well."

Port Fairy Medical Clinic opened in Koroit 18 months ago and practice manager Carolyn Billington said it was "going gangbusters".

The Koroit community and Moyne council approached the clinic after its previous practice closed.

"The Koroit community were phoning asking if it was a possibility we could open, some even wrote to us," she said.

"We thought 'we'll see how this goes'.

"It's going gangbusters. Next year we're hoping to be able to put on two doctors everyday and we also have a feeding and lactation service at the clinic."

Mrs Billington said the community was supportive of the clinic and its growth.

"The demand is definitely there," she said.

"The community have been unreal in their support, we have new people coming in everyday.

"It's a fantastic town and they deserve good medical services."

Koroit and District Primary School has seen a radical increase in student enrolments in the past decade.

Principal Marina Milich said enrolment was currently 165 students compared the 80 students the public school had eight years ago.

"We have definitely seen growth over the past five years," she said.

"This has led us to be eligible for a new portable classroom building with two classrooms and increase teaching staff by two and two support staff members.

"We now have a full-time business manager and an administration support in the office at all times."

Ms Milich said the close community was appealing to families from near and afar.

"We are seeing young families move into the area and our new families have moved from other parts of Victoria like Geelong and Melbourne. Families have also moved from places like Queensland and the Northern Territory," she said.

"Koroit is affordable, close in proximity to the beach and Warrnambool, has so much to offer young families and outstanding sporting facilities for kids and adults to enjoy.

"We are also fortunate to have special events like the Irish festival and our school's Easter Fair to entice the wider community."
