The Renegades, who sit in fifth with four games remaining following a six-run loss to Brisbane Heat on Wednesday, need a win against the Melbourne Stars in Ballarat on Saturday to keep their season alive.

The Sydney Sixers (third) and Perth Scorchers (fourth), who are just one win ahead, are the two teams the Renegades will need to chase down.

"We are still yet to play our best cricket, which is pretty exciting to think about considering we have won a few games," Wareham said of the side's recent form.

"But we still have a bit to go and we have to win three of the next four. We are really excited and we are keen to put our best on the park this weekend."

The 20-year-old leg-spinner, who prefers to score wins rather than large quantities of wickets, said the "home" match against the bottom-of-the-table Stars was a critical encounter.

"It's massive for us, especially against the Stars being our hometown rivals but in terms of getting into finals we need to win this game," she said.

The Stars have had a disappointing season so far with just the one win from 10 games. Wareham said the Renegades would not underestimate the firepower their crosstown rivals possess.

"They are going to come at us hard and they have a really strong top order so we just have to work hard and do what we do best," the Australian Women's cricket team member said.
