Detective Acting Sergeant Elissa Smith, of the Warrnambool police divisional response unit, said the search warrant was executed at an Ocean Grove address in Warrnambool.
Officers seized nine grams of cannabis and eight patches of opiate substitute buprenorphine, which is a prescription medication.
A 38-year-old Warrnambool man was arrested, interviewed and charged with possessing cannabis and prescription medication without a prescription and attempting to take something in or out of a prison.
Police allege he posted buprenorphine patches into prison which led to information being passed on to Warrnambool police and the execution of the warrant.
He's been charged and released on bail to appear in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court during March next year.
