SWH chief executive officer Craig Fraser said the recognition was the result of a total team effort.
"I'm very proud of the care our teams provide, particularly given the challenges experienced in recent years due to increasing levels of service demand," he said.
"It's a fantastic acknowledgement for the entire South West Healthcare team to be recognised against 21 other healthcare agencies.
"It highlights the dedication and commitment of our entire workforce to achieving the ultimate goal of improving the health of communities in our south-west region."
He said the organisation would "not rest on its laurels" and would continue improving quality of care.
Entries for the award were assessed against six criteria:
- Providing sustainable, well-managed and efficient health services
- Providing timely and responsive health services
- Promoting least intrusive and earliest effective care
- Improving health service safety and quality
- Strengthening the capacity of individuals, families and communities through effective prevention and health promotion
- Improving health and wellbeing for disadvantaged people and communities
