WESLEY-CBC bowler Ben Evans hopes his individual and the Beavers' dominant performance against Dennington on Saturday is a turning point in their season.

The 29-year-old took 4-4 from his five overs, which included two maidens, to help the Mitch Bowmen-led Beavers to their first victory of 2019-20 Warrnambool and District Cricket Association division one season.
Wesley-CBC bowled the Dogs out for 49 before Sam McCosh and Bevan Stokie guided the visitors to victory with eight wickets to spare.
Rising stars in 16-year-old Walter Owen, who claimed his first top-grade wicket before finishing with 2-15, and 18-year-old Liam Couch (2-10) chipped in to help Evans dismantle the Dogs' attack.
Evans felt he was closing in on a standout performance.
"I felt like I have bowled pretty well the last few weeks but it's just come together," the left-arm off-spinner said.
"I have just been trying to hit my areas consistently, which takes a bit of time and practice and I feel the last few weeks I have been getting there.
"Hopefully it is a step forward in the right direction and it was important to get the win as we hadn't got one this year."

Evans hoped the win would be a confidence booster for the group, which has been struggling with player availability and with weather abandoned matches.
"We still have a few blokes away, which is even better that we put in a performance like this, but hopefully we get a few more back next week and hopefully build from there," he said.
"Joe Higgins was away, hopefully Ben Dobson will be back next week as he started training last week, then a few regulars like Cameron Pyke and Jimmy Dalton have been unavailable."
The victory ended the Beavers' four-game and six-round losing streak after two of their matches were called off due to wet weather.
They travel to Avery's Paddock next Saturday to face Port Fairy in the second last one-day round of the season.
Dennington will be searching for its first win of the season when it faces Merrivale at home next weekend.
