The Warrnambool-based trainer saddles up Platinum Angel and Pacodali on the final day of Melbourne's Spring Carnival.

Jockey Dean Yendall, who joined forces with Smith to win the Chatham Stakes with Reykjavik last Saturday at Flemington, has the ride on Pacodali in the $160,000 Eclipse Stakes over 1800 metres.

"Pacodali is my best chance," Smith said. "He's knocking on the door and is due for a win.

"I would say in hindsight I got it wrong by running him in the Kyneton Cup with 62kgs. He ran well but the big weight took its toll.

"He should appreciate the 59kgs on Saturday. I've only had Pacodali for the five starts and he's been very consistent. I really think this race suits him."

Yendall, also rides Platinum Angel in the $160,000 Summoned Stakes.

"Her run the other day at Flemington was better then it looked on paper," he said. "She gave many of her rivals a lot of weight at Flemington.

"It's Platinum Angel's first start over the 1500 metres so there's probably a question mark on her at that distance but I'm quietly confident she'll run out the 1500 metres."

Ciaron Maher and David Eustace accepted with three runners in the $300,000 Zipping Classic.

Imported galloper Southern France will try and make amends for a poor run in the Melbourne Cup while Humidor and Dal Harraild are their other runners in the Classic.

The training combination also has the undefeated Heart Of Pussiance running in the $250,000 Sandown Guineas.

Heart Of Puissance won his maiden at Warrnambool before winning at Moonee Valley. Stablemates Azuro and Wall Of Fire line up in the Sandown Cup for the Maher-Eustace training operation.
