The 18-year-old was announced as one of two Beavers in Warrnambool's first 31-man squad last week.
Couch - a wicketkeeper-batsman by trade - is happy to play any role as the Walter Oval club finds its best balance.
Wesley-CBC is shackled to the bottom of the table but could secure its maiden victory at Dennington on Saturday.
"I bowled last week in a game as we're playing around a bit, trying to find the best team balance," Couch told The Standard.
"Whether that's with me having the gloves or someone else - I'm not sure. I'm happy to do whatever.
"We're taking a bit of the pressure off because it's pretty hard work keeping and batting in the top order. We're really working on that balance."
In the meantime, eliminating lapses is Couch and Wesley-CBC's biggest goal.
"In patches we've played some good cricket. We've had patches of like half an hour which is really costing us," he said.
"At our best, we're really matching up with good sides.
"It's a matter of doing that. Availability has hurt us a bit but our best cricket is really good.
Couch, who arrived at Wesley-CBC three years ago, is enjoying a strong start to the season.
He snagged 75 runs against Woodford on the opening day of the season and followed up with 31 against Nestles last week.
Couch denied pressure was on the Beavers' batsmen to perform, instead saying it was a matter of 'when' not 'if'.
"We have some capable batsmen, it's just a matter of everyone performing on the day I suppose," he said.
As for his prospects of country week selection?
"It was a bit of a shock to be picked (in the initial squad)," Couch said.
"I'll go up there to training and give it a crack. There's no expectations or anything on myself."
Teammate Ben Evans, who has also been included in the squad, will also train.
