The Warrnambool and District league club on Wednesday unveiled Perth-based talent David Johnston as its senior coach for 2020.
Johnston was formerly contracted to Swan Districts, Perth and Peel Thunder before spending a year at NEAFL outfit Northern Territory Thunder.
He also coached WA Amateur Football League club Canning South Perth Football Club in 2018.
Timboon Demons president Brendan Hickey said his club cast a wide net before stamping Johnston as the best candidate.
"We've had a little bit of luck - we advertised the role and David obviously applied," Hickey said.
"He presented very well and his playing and coaching credentials obviously stack up very well.
"That experience was very appealing."
Johnston will arrive in the south-west for early December.
Hickey said Timboon Demons kept an open mind and had no preference between a playing or non-playing coach.
He said Johnston would implement high standards as the club strives to better its eighth-place finish.
"The leadership he'll bring on and off the field will be fantastic," Johnston said.
"He'll set high standards. We had a pretty young group this year and his influence will definitely be beneficial to our players."
