Koroit police are seeking assistance from the public to identify a man who attempted to steal a farm ute in the Woolsthorpe-Heywood Road area.

Senior Constable Brett Thornton said that at 2.30pm on Sunday the man was seen acting suspiciously.
"It's believed the man was actively trying to steal a vehicle and was hitchhiking in the area," he said.
"He was caught trying to get into a farm ute and when confronted fled."
Senior Constable Thornton described the man as being in his early to mid 20s, of thin build, with dark hair and dark features.
"He was wearing a black and blue jacket and carrying a white plastic shopping bag," he said.
"He was seen getting into a black car on the Koroit-Penshurst Road about 3pm Sunday.
"We would like to hear from anyone who can identify the man or the driver who gave him a lift."
