A government spokesman said the Saturday morning service would run express from Geelong to Footscray, which will cut nearly 10 minutes off the trip.
"We're making the trip from Warrnambool to Melbourne faster and more comfortable for passengers on the popular Saturday morning service," the spokesman said. "By running this service express from Geelong to Footscray, we're able to get locals where they need to go sooner."
Warrnambool trains operate to a mix of express, semi-express and stopping all stations between Geelong and Footscray.
