Zac Pearson, 22, recently moved to the south-west from Mount Gambier for a full-time job.
The long-time bowler said the game was a welcome change from his job.
"It gives me a bit of a break on the weekends," he said.
"Just a bit of my own time."

Pearson said some family friends invited him to join his new team.
He brings valuable experience to Timboon's division one outfit, having played bowls for a decade.
The youngster also has strong bowls heritage.
"My family played indoor bowls so that got me into it," he said.
"Both my parents played when they were young and they got me into it.
"My mum (Fiona) is pretty good, she has played for the Australian team twice in indoor."
Fiona was the ladies singles winner at the Australian Indoor Bias Bowls Championships in Shepparton in 2010.
She also claimed two Australasian medals playing for Australia in the Trans Tasman International Test in New Zealand earlier this year - among the highest honours you can receive in indoor bias bowls.
Pearson's Timboon Gold battled hard in wet and windy conditions at Warrnambool Bowls Club on Saturday.
But it fell 28 shots short of Warrnambool Gold's 83.
Warrnambool Gold sits on top of the table with three wins and one loss.
