Whateley will lead a panel discussion at Thursday's meeting.
Board chair Maryanne Puli Vogels said Whateley's love of sport was an ideal segue to an important discussion around the promotion of health and wellbeing.
"Gerard is the husband of board member, Claire Murphy, so that it how it has come about and we're extremely grateful he's agreed to give of his time so generously," she said. "Our AGM is a perfect opportunity for people in our community to learn about TDHS, to hear where we've been and the directions we are taking."
"Gerard will talk about his career as a sports caller, TV and radio host, newspaper journalist, author and no doubt the state of the horse racing industry at the moment."
Whateley is a sports journalist renowned for his passion for horse racing. He also hosts his own program on SEN radio and co-hosts Fox Footy's AFL 360 with Mark Robinson.
Ms Puli Vogels said it was a real boon for TDHS.
"There is a lot happening at TDHS and we have a diverse Board of Directors who can't wait to hear from community members during the panel discussion.
"Board members Chris Stewart, Toinette Hutchins and Ashley Nesseler will join Gerard on the panel. Chris has been a paramedic for 20 years, Ashley is a doctor and Toinette a clinician with extensive experience in the health industry.
"They are all local people who will offer their insights, answer questions and contribute to an important discussion about the future of health in regional areas and our community."
Ms Puli Vogels said she would deliver her chair's report, Ms Hutchins would report on clinical governance in terms of patient care and processes, while fellow board member and CPA Anthony DeJong would outline the organisation's strong financial position.
"Outgoing Consumer Participation Committee (CPC) chair Donna Ellis will also speak about this group's important community perspective and how it works to ensure TDHS meets the needs and expectations of the community we serve," she said.
The Annual General Meeting will commence at 7.30pm on Thursday, November 14 in the Conference Room, 21 Hospital Road, Timboon. A light supper will be provided.
