AN unlicensed Heywood driver has been charged with trafficking cannabis after being caught with drugs valued at about $2000 on Tuesday.

Portland police Acting Sergeant Michael Vaughan said a police divisional van crew intercepted a vehicle at 12.15am on the Henty Highway.
He said the 45-year-old driver was unlicensed and a search of his vehicle found 250 grams of cannabis in his glove box.
The man was arrested, interviewed and charged with possessing and trafficking cannabis.
He was released on bail to appear in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court on February 25 next year.
Acting Sergeant Vaughan said south-west police members had been actively patrolling district roads during the statewide Operation Furlong, to coincide with the Melbourne Cup racing carnival.
The operation continues today.
