Portland police have charged four people after they uncovered drugs in a vehicle that came to the assistance of a crash.

Sergeant Andrew Dunlop said a ute lost control on a gravel road near Portland and crashed into a tree at about 1pm on Friday. One person was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
"As a result of a search of the vehicle that came up to pick up the occupants of the original car. A quantity of amphetamine and marijuana was found," Sergeant Dunlop said.
He said four males in their 20s were charged with drug posession, one was also charged with drug trafficking, and another with driving offences.
